In nineteen fifty-eight, she moved to Athens to focus on her singing career, culminating in her graduation from the Greek National Conservatoire in nineteen sixty-five.

Baltsa's professional debut came in nineteen sixty-eight when she portrayed Cherubino in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro at the Frankfurt Opera. Her career quickly ascended, and by nineteen seventy, she was captivating audiences as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier at the Vienna State Opera. Under the mentorship of the legendary Herbert von Karajan, she became a regular performer at the prestigious Salzburg Festival and was honored as Kammersängerin of the Vienna State Opera in nineteen eighty.

Among her most celebrated roles is that of Carmen in Georges Bizet's opera, which she has performed alongside renowned tenors such as José Carreras and Neil Shicoff.
