Agnes Binagwaho

Agnes Binagwaho, born in nineteen fifty-five, is a distinguished Rwandan politician and pediatrician, renowned for her significant contributions to the health sector in Rwanda. She co-founded the University of Global Health Equity, where she served as vice-chancellor from two thousand seventeen to two thousand twenty-two, shaping the future of health education in the region.

After returning to Rwanda in nineteen ninety-six, Agnes dedicated herself to providing clinical care within the public sector. Her career in government saw her rise to prominent positions, including Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health from October two thousand eight to May two thousand eleven, and subsequently as Minister of Health from May two thousand eleven until July two thousand sixteen.

In addition to her governmental roles, she has been a professor of global health delivery practice since two thousand sixteen and a professor of pediatrics since two thousand seventeen at the University of Global Health Equity. Her expertise and leadership have made her a pivotal figure in advancing health initiatives in Rwanda.

Residing in Kigali, Agnes Binagwaho continues to influence the health sector through her academic and professional endeavors, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to improving health outcomes for the Rwandan population.
