Agnès Buzyn

Agnès Buzyn, born on November first, nineteen sixty-two, is a distinguished French hematologist and university professor who has made significant contributions to the fields of medicine and politics. With a specialization in hematology, cancer immunology, and transplant, she has dedicated much of her career to research and medical practice at Paris Descartes University and Necker–Enfants Malades Hospital.

Her career in public health began to flourish in two thousand eight when she took on various leadership roles within health and nuclear public institutions. Notably, she served as the president of the administrative council of the Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety Institute from two thousand eight to two thousand thirteen. Additionally, she was a member of the committee on nuclear energy for the Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission from two thousand nine to two thousand fifteen, and she held multiple positions within the National Institute for Cancer, culminating in her presidency in two thousand eleven.

Buzyn's political journey began when she was appointed Minister of Solidarity and Health in the government of Prime Minister Édouard Philippe on May seventeenth, two thousand seventeen. She continued in this role through the second government formed on June twenty-first, two thousand seventeen, until her resignation on February sixteenth, two thousand twenty, to pursue her candidacy for Mayor of Paris. Although she placed third in the election, her impact on public health policy during her tenure was notable.
