Agop Jack Hacikyan, born on November twenty-fifth, nineteen thirty-one in Istanbul, Turkey, is a distinguished Armenian Canadian literary scholar, historian, and writer. He has made significant contributions to the fields of literature and linguistics, authoring over thirty books and eight novels, including the acclaimed international bestseller, A Summer Without Dawn.
Hacikyan's academic journey began with an engineering degree, which he pursued for a year before shifting his focus to literature. This pivotal decision led him to leave Turkey and eventually earn his PhD in Montreal. Since nineteen fifty-seven, he has resided in Quebec, where he has dedicated his career to academia.
In addition to his literary works, Hacikyan served as Professor of Literary Studies and Dean of Studies at the Royal Military College Saint-Jean. He is also celebrated for co-authoring The Heritage of Armenian Literature, a comprehensive three-volume anthology published by Wayne State University Press between two thousand and two thousand five.
