Ahmed Mohamed Kathrada, affectionately known as "Kathy," was born on August twenty-first, nineteen twenty-nine, in South Africa. He emerged as a prominent politician and a dedicated anti-apartheid activist, whose life was marked by a relentless pursuit of justice and equality.
His significant involvement with the African National Congress (ANC) led to his arrest and subsequent imprisonment during the Rivonia Trial. Kathrada spent many years incarcerated at the notorious Robben Island and Pollsmoor Prison, where he endured the harsh realities of political imprisonment.
Upon his release in nineteen ninety, Kathrada transitioned into a political career, serving as a member of parliament for the ANC.
