Ahmed Radhi

Ahmed Radhi, born on April 21, 1964, was a prominent Iraqi footballer celebrated for his exceptional skills as a striker. Known by the nickname 'Al-Saher' or 'The Magician', he is widely regarded as one of the finest players in Iraq's history and a standout figure in Asian football.

Radhi's illustrious career is marked by a historic moment at the 1986 FIFA World Cup, where he scored the only goal for Iraq in the tournament. His remarkable low shot into the corner of the net against Belgium, despite the team's eventual defeat of two to one, remains a significant highlight in Iraqi football history.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the sport, Radhi was honored as the Asian Footballer of the Year in 1988. His legacy extends beyond the pitch, as he later transitioned into a career in politics and football coaching, continuing to influence the sport in Iraq.
