Ai Sugiyama, born on July 5, 1975, is a distinguished former Japanese tennis player who made a significant mark in the world of professional tennis. Renowned for her exceptional skills on the court, she achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the world No. 1 ranking in women's doubles on the WTA Tour. Her career also saw her attain a career-high singles ranking of world No. 8 on February 9, 2004.

Throughout her illustrious career, Sugiyama secured a total of six singles titles and an impressive thirty-eight doubles titles. Among her notable achievements are three Grand Slam titles, which she won in partnership with Julie Halard-Decugis and twice with Kim Clijsters.
