Airlangga

Airlangga, also known by his regnal name Rakai Halu Sri Lokeswara Dharmawangsa Airlangga, was a prominent monarch born in Bali in the year one thousand two. He is celebrated as the sole king of the Kingdom of Kahuripan, a realm that emerged from the remnants of the Kingdom of Mataram after it was devastated by King Wurawari of Lwaram.

Through a combination of strategic alliances and military prowess, Airlangga gradually garnered support to reclaim the kingdom that had once been under the rule of his uncle. His reign marked a significant period in Javanese history, as he became one of the most notable kings of the island.

The name Airlangga translates to 'jumping water,' symbolizing his journey across the Bali Strait during his youth to establish his rule in East Java. This narrative of crossing waters reflects not only his physical journey but also his rise to power and influence.

Airlangga's lineage is notable, as he belongs to both the Ishana and Warmadewa families, which further solidified his claim to the throne and his legacy in the region.
