Ajahn Chah

Ajahn Chah, born on June seventeenth, nineteen eighteen, was a revered Thai Buddhist monk whose teachings left an indelible mark on the world of Buddhism. As a prominent figure in the Thai Forest Tradition, he was not only a respected teacher of the Buddhadhamma but also the founder of two significant monasteries that continue to thrive today.

His influence extended far beyond Thailand, playing a crucial role in the establishment of Theravada Buddhism in the West. In nineteen seventy-nine, he founded Cittaviveka, commonly known as Chithurst Buddhist Monastery, in the United Kingdom. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of the spread of Ajahn Chah's Forest Tradition throughout Europe, the United States, and the British Commonwealth.

Ajahn Chah was celebrated for his profound wisdom and compassion, earning the love and respect of many, including the Thai royal family. His dhamma talks, which have been recorded, transcribed, and translated into several languages, continue to inspire countless individuals seeking spiritual guidance.

Following his passing in January nineteen ninety-two, Ajahn Chah's legacy was honored by more than one million attendees at his funeral, a testament to the impact he had on the lives of so many.
