Akon

Akon, born Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam on April 16, 1973, is a prominent Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, record producer, businessman, and philanthropist. He gained international fame in 2004 with his hit single 'Locked Up,' featuring Styles P, which set the stage for his debut album, 'Trouble.' This album marked a significant turning point in his career, leading to the release of the R&B classic 'Lonely' the following year.

His sophomore album, 'Konvicted,' released in 2006, achieved remarkable success, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album. The album's lead singles, 'I Wanna Love You' featuring Snoop Dogg and 'Smack That' featuring Eminem, both reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100, making Akon the first solo artist to hold the top two positions on the chart twice. His third album, 'Freedom,' released in 2008, continued this trend with hits like 'Right Now (Na Na Na)' and 'Beautiful.'
