Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Al-Aziz Billah

Al-Aziz Billah, born Abu Mansur Nizar on May tenth, nine hundred fifty-five, was a prominent figure in Islamic history, serving as the fifth caliph of the Fatimid dynasty from nine hundred seventy-five until his death in nine hundred ninety-six. His reign was marked by significant military achievements, including the capture of Damascus, which played a crucial role in the Fatimid expansion into the Levant.

During his rule, al-Aziz Billah found himself in conflict with the Byzantine emperor Basil II over the control of Aleppo. This period of expansion not only solidified the Fatimid presence in the region but also showcased al-Aziz's strategic prowess in navigating complex political landscapes.

To bolster his military strength, al-Aziz Billah incorporated large numbers of Turkic and Daylamite slave-soldiers into his forces. This move effectively diminished the Kutama Berbers' near-monopoly on Fatimid military power, allowing for a more diverse and formidable army.
