Alain Farah

Alain Farah, a distinguished Canadian writer and academic, was born in Montreal, Quebec, in nineteen seventy-nine to Lebanese immigrant parents. His literary journey has seen the publication of two novels and a collection of poetry, showcasing his diverse talents as a novelist, poet, and literary scholar.

In two thousand four, Farah's poetry collection Quelque chose se détache du port garnered critical acclaim, earning a nomination for the prestigious Prix Émile-Nelligan. His poem "No. 4" was notably adapted into a short film by director Paule Baillargeon for the two thousand seven film Un Cri au bonheur.

Farah's novel Pourquoi Bologne, released in two thousand thirteen, was recognized as a shortlisted nominee for both the Grand Prix du livre de Montreal and the Governor General's Award for French-language fiction at the two thousand fourteen Governor General's Awards. His short drama Les fortifications de Vauban was created and directed by Marie Brassard in two thousand fourteen, further establishing his presence in the literary scene.

In addition to his writing, Farah serves as a professor of French literature at McGill University and contributes regularly to Ici Radio-Canada Première's literature program Plus on est de fous, plus on lit. His novel Mille secrets mille dangers won the Governor General's Award for French fiction at the two thousand twenty-two Governor General's Awards, solidifying his reputation as a leading voice in contemporary literature.
