Alain Paquet

Alain Paquet, born on April seventeenth, nineteen sixty-one, is a distinguished economist and politician from Quebec. He has made significant contributions to the province's economic landscape, notably serving as a Member of the National Assembly for Laval-des-Rapides. His tenure as the Delegate Minister of Finance began on February third, two thousand eleven, and continued until his defeat in the two thousand twelve Québec General Elections.

Paquet's academic journey is impressive; he earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Université Laval, followed by a master's and doctorate in economics from the University of Rochester. He further enhanced his credentials with an additional master's degree from Queen's University. Since nineteen eighty-eight, he has been a dedicated professor in the Faculty of Economics at the Université du Québec à Montréal.

In addition to his teaching role, Paquet has been actively involved in research, serving as a research scholar for fourteen years at the Centre for Research on Employment and Economic Variations. His expertise has led him to consult for various prestigious institutions, including the Bank of Canada and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, among others. He has also held a position on the board of the Quebec Consumers Association.

Paquet's political career began with his election in the two thousand three elections, where he was appointed chair of the Public Finances Committee from two thousand three to two thousand five. He later served as the parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Finance and was re-elected in two thousand seven, further solidifying his influence in Quebec's economic policy.
