Alan Keyes

A member of the Republican Party, Keyes has made several attempts to secure the nomination for President of the United States, running in nineteen ninety-six, two thousand, and two thousand eight. Keyes earned his doctorate from Harvard University and began his diplomatic career in the U.S. Foreign Service in nineteen seventy-nine, serving at the United States consulate in Mumbai, India, and later at the American embassy in Zimbabwe. His notable appointments include serving as Ambassador to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations under President Ronald Reagan, followed by his role as Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs from November thirteenth, nineteen eighty-five, to November seventeenth, nineteen eighty-seven. During his tenure, he played a significant role in implementing the Mexico City Policy.
