He first gained recognition as the original keyboardist for the iconic rock band, the Animals, where his musical prowess contributed significantly to the band's early success.

In nineteen sixty-five, Price embarked on a new journey by forming the Alan Price Set, further showcasing his creativity and artistry. His hit singles, both with the group and as a solo artist, include memorable tracks such as 'Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear', 'The House That Jack Built', and 'Jarrow Song'.
