Alan Rufus

Alan Rufus, also known as Alan the Red, was born around the year one thousand forty and passed away in one thousand ninety-three. He was a prominent Breton nobleman and a close kinsman and companion of William the Conqueror during the pivotal Norman Conquest of England. His lineage traces back to Eozen Penteur, also referred to as Eudon, Eudo, or Odo, Count of Penthièvre, and Orguen Kernev, known as Agnes of Cornouaille.

In recognition of his loyalty and service, William the Conqueror bestowed upon Alan Rufus a substantial English fief around the year one thousand seventy-one. This fief would later be recognized as the Honour of Richmond, marking a significant milestone in Alan's life and establishing his influence in the region.

As the second son in his family, Alan's rise to prominence was notable, especially during a time of great upheaval and transformation in England. His contributions to the Norman establishment in England were significant, and his legacy continued through the generations that followed.
