Alan Stacey

Alan Stacey, born on August twenty-ninth, nineteen thirty-three, was a distinguished British racing driver and motorcycle racer. His journey into the world of motorsport began with Lotus, where he constructed one of the MkVI kits offered by the company. This initial foray into racing saw him compete with the MkVI, which laid the groundwork for his future endeavors.

Stacey's passion for racing led him to build a Lotus Eleven, which he campaigned at the prestigious Le Mans under the Team Lotus banner. His dedication to the sport was evident as he spent considerable time developing Lotus Grand Prix cars, particularly the innovative front-engined models, the sixteen and the eighteen.

Throughout his career, Stacey participated in seven Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, making his debut on July nineteenth, nineteen fifty-eight. Although he did not score any championship points, his contributions to non-championship Formula One races showcased his commitment to the sport.

Notably, Stacey was an amputee, having lost his lower right leg in a motorcycle accident at the age of seventeen. Despite this significant challenge, he continued to pursue his passion for racing, demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination.
