Albert Smoke

Albert Smoke, a distinguished long-distance runner, was born in March nineteen hundred and ninety-four. Hailing from the Mississauga Anishinaabe First Nations, he was raised in Curve Lake, Ontario, where his passion for running began to flourish.

Standing at four feet ten inches, Smoke defied the odds and emerged as one of the premier marathon runners of his time. His remarkable talent was showcased on the international stage when he competed in the marathon at the 1920 Summer Olympics, marking a significant milestone in his athletic career.

From nineteen hundred and twenty to nineteen hundred and twenty-two, Smoke held the title of national marathon champion, solidifying his status in the sport. His prowess was further highlighted when he secured third place at the prestigious Boston Marathon in nineteen hundred and twenty-two.

Later in life, Smoke relocated to Lindsay, Ontario, where he continued to inspire others with his legacy. He passed away in nineteen hundred and forty-four at the age of fifty-three. In recognition of his contributions to athletics, he was posthumously inducted into the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in nineteen hundred and eighty-eight.
