Albert Zafy

Albert Zafy, born on May first, nineteen twenty-seven, was a prominent Malagasy politician and surgeon who made significant contributions to Madagascar's political landscape. He is best known for serving as the fourth president of Madagascar from nineteen ninety-three to nineteen ninety-six, a period marked by both triumph and turmoil.

In nineteen eighty-eight, Zafy founded the National Union for Democracy and Development (UNDD), a pivotal step in his political career. His determination to lead the nation was evident when he ran against incumbent President Didier Ratsiraka in the nineteen ninety-two presidential election. The contest escalated into a run-off, culminating in Zafy's remarkable victory in nineteen ninety-three, where he secured sixty-seven percent of the vote.

Despite his electoral success, Zafy's presidency faced significant challenges, including economic decline and allegations of corruption within his administration.
