Alberto Manguel

Alberto Manguel, born on March thirteenth, nineteen forty-eight, is a distinguished Argentine-Canadian writer, translator, editor, and essayist. His literary journey began in Argentina, where he was immersed in the rich cultural landscape of Buenos Aires until he left for a life abroad at the age of twenty. Manguel's cosmopolitan nature is reflected in his fluency in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, German, and French, as well as advanced proficiency in Italian and Portuguese.

Throughout his life, Manguel has lived in various countries, including Israel, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, French Polynesia, Canada, the United States, and currently Portugal, where he has been since twenty twenty-one. In Lisbon, he directs an international center for reading studies, which was named Espaço Atlântida in twenty twenty-three. Manguel proudly identifies as a Canadian citizen, emphasizing his deep connection to his adopted homeland.

As an accomplished author, Manguel has penned numerous non-fiction works, including the acclaimed 'The Dictionary of Imaginary Places' and 'A History of Reading.'
