Albrecht Adam

Albrecht Adam, born on April sixteenth, seventeen eighty-six, was a distinguished Bavarian painter, printmaker, and lithographer, renowned for his vivid battle scenes. His artistic journey took a significant turn when he accompanied Napoleon Bonaparte during the fateful Russian campaign of eighteen twelve, serving as the official artist for the Bavarian contingent within Bonaparte's Grande Armée.

Throughout this tumultuous campaign, Adam meticulously sketched and painted, creating an invaluable visual record of the harrowing march to Moscow. His memoirs provide a poignant account of the brutal carnage witnessed at the Battle of Borodino, capturing the essence of warfare during this pivotal moment in history.
