Aleksandar Đurić

Aleksandar Đurić, born on August twelfth, nineteen seventy, is a distinguished football coach and former player, currently serving as the principal for Sport Singapore and the ActiveSG Football Academy. Renowned for his formidable physical presence on the field, Đurić's commitment to fitness and a disciplined lifestyle has allowed him to enjoy a remarkable career that has spanned over three decades.

Before making his mark in football, Đurić was a junior kayaking champion in Yugoslavia, achieving notable success at the age of fifteen and ranking eighth in the world by seventeen. He represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in the C-1 five hundred meter canoeing event at the nineteen ninety-two Summer Olympics. Following the Olympics, he returned to Hungary to pursue his football ambitions.

In nineteen ninety-nine, Đurić joined Tanjong Pagar United in the S.League, where he transitioned to a striker for the first time in his career. His tenure in Singapore saw him win numerous accolades, including eight league titles and three Singapore Cups over fifteen seasons. He also earned three Player of the Year awards and four top scorer titles, ultimately becoming the league's all-time top scorer.

On the international stage, Đurić made his debut for Singapore at the age of thirty-seven in two thousand seven, becoming the first foreign-born player to captain the national team in May two thousand eight. He participated in the AFF Championship in two thousand eight, two thousand ten, and two thousand twelve, with the latter tournament culminating in a victory for Singapore. He concluded his international career in December two thousand twelve, having scored twenty-four goals in fifty-three matches and was recognized as the IFFHS World's Best Goal Scorer of the Decade for two thousand one to two thousand ten.

After retiring from professional football in November two thousand fourteen at the age of forty-four, Đurić continued to play in the Singapore Cosmopolitan Football League, a premier amateur league in Singapore, further showcasing his enduring passion for the sport.
