As a dedicated member and current vice-president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Šapić has made significant contributions to local governance.

His political journey began with the Democratic Party (DS), where he was an active member until two thousand fourteen. Following this, he led the Serbian Patriotic Alliance until its merger into the SNS in May two thousand twenty-one, showcasing his adaptability and commitment to public service.

He was a key player on two Olympic bronze medal teams, representing FR Yugoslavia at the two thousand Olympics in Sydney and Serbia at the two thousand eight Olympics in Beijing.
