Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Aleksandër Stavre Drenova

Aleksandër Stavre Drenova, widely known by his pen name Asdreni, was born on April 11, 1872, in the village of Drenovë. He emerged as a prominent figure in Albanian literature, recognized for his contributions as a poet, writer, journalist, and diplomat. His literary journey was deeply intertwined with the Albanian Renaissance, during which he composed many of his most celebrated works.

Asdreni pursued his academic studies at the University of Bucharest in Romania, where he fervently advocated for Albania's independence from the Ottoman Empire. His literary circle included notable contemporaries such as Gjergj Fishta and Lasgush Poradeci, and he drew inspiration from esteemed patriots like Girolamo de Rada and Naim Frashëri.

His first major work, Rreze dielli, is a collection of ninety-nine poems dedicated to Albania's national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg. Following this, he published Ëndrra e lotë, another collection of ninety-nine poems, which showcased a broader range of themes and a remarkable maturity in his writing. This collection was dedicated to Edith Durham, a friend of Albania.

Asdreni's legacy continues to resonate in Albanian culture, exemplified by the issuance of a new ten thousand Lekë banknote on June 30, 2021, featuring his portrait, a testament to his enduring influence.
