Aleksandra Ekster

Aleksandra Ekster, born on January eighteenth, eighteen eighty-two, was a prominent Russian and French painter and designer. Known for her vibrant creativity, she became a central figure in the artistic circles of Kiev, where her studio attracted the city's most influential creatives. Her work and personality made her a notable presence in the Paris salons, where she mingled with luminaries such as Picasso and Braque.

Identified with the Russian and Ukrainian avant-garde movements, Ekster was a key player in the Cubo-futurist and Constructivist movements, and she significantly influenced the Art Deco style. Her innovative approach to art and design allowed her to bridge various artistic disciplines, including painting, costume design, illustration, and textile art.

Throughout her career, Ekster was not only a creator but also a mentor, teaching several artists who would later become prominent figures in the School of Paris. Among her students were notable names like Abraham Mintchine and Isaac Frenkel Frenel, as well as film directors Grigori Kozintsev and Sergei Yutkevich, showcasing her impact on both visual arts and cinema.
