Alen Bokšić

Alen Bokšić, born on January 21, 1970, is a former Croatian professional footballer celebrated for his remarkable skills as a forward. Throughout his illustrious career, he showcased his talents primarily in France, England, and Italy, earning a reputation for his exceptional technique and powerful play. Bokšić is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the Croatia national football team.

During his time with Marseille, Bokšić achieved significant success, winning the prestigious 1992–93 UEFA Champions League. His outstanding performance that year also earned him a fourth-place finish in the European Footballer of the Year poll, alongside being named Croatian Footballer of the Year. His prowess continued in Italy, where he secured two Serie A titles in 1997 and 2000 with Juventus and Lazio, respectively, solidifying his status as one of the best foreign players in Serie A history since 1980.

Bokšić's international career began with a selection for the Yugoslavia squad at the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, although he did not play in the tournament. Following Croatia's independence, he became a key figure in the national team during the 1990s under coach Miroslav Blažević. He participated in the 1996 European Championship but faced disappointment when an injury ruled him out of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.

Finally, at the age of thirty-two, Bokšić made his World Cup debut at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan, where he played in all three group stage matches. He concluded his professional playing career in 2003, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire future generations of footballers.
