Aleta Baun

In two thousand thirteen, Aleta was honored with the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize. This accolade recognized her extraordinary efforts in mobilizing local communities to peacefully occupy marble mining sites. Her innovative approach, termed 'weaving protests,' played a crucial role in halting the destruction of the sacred forest land on Mutis Mountain, located on the island of Timor.
