Alex Azar

He served as the twenty-fourth U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services from two thousand eighteen to two thousand twenty-one, where he played a critical role in shaping health policy during a pivotal time in American history.

In addition to his tenure as Secretary, Azar was appointed chairman of the White House Coronavirus Task Force at its inception on January twenty-nine, two thousand twenty, a position he held until February twenty-six, two thousand twenty, when he was succeeded by Vice President Mike Pence. His leadership during this period was marked by significant challenges and decisions that impacted public health across the nation.

Before his role in the federal government, Azar was the president of the U.S. division of Eli Lilly and Company from two thousand twelve to two thousand seventeen, a major player in the pharmaceutical industry.
