Alex McLeish

Alex McLeish, born on January twenty-first, nineteen fifty-nine, is a prominent figure in Scottish football, both as a player and a manager. He made his mark as a defender for Aberdeen during the club's illustrious years in the 1980s, where he amassed nearly five hundred league appearances and earned seventy-seven caps for the Scotland national team.

Beginning his managerial journey with stints at Motherwell and Hibernian, McLeish achieved significant success at Rangers, leading the team to two league championships and five cup victories within a five-year span. His tenure as the Scotland national team manager was brief yet impactful, as he guided the team through a challenging qualification campaign for the 2008 UEFA European Championship.

In November two thousand seven, McLeish transitioned to Birmingham City, where he faced the challenge of Premier League competition. Despite relegation at the end of his first season, he orchestrated a remarkable return to the top flight in two thousand nine, culminating in a memorable victory in the 2011 Football League Cup Final. However, the club faced another relegation shortly thereafter.

Following his departure from Birmingham, McLeish made history by becoming the first manager to move directly to Aston Villa. His time at Villa Park was marked by a narrow escape from relegation, but his contract was ultimately terminated after just one season. He briefly managed Nottingham Forest in the Championship before taking on roles with Genk in Belgium and Zamalek in Egypt, eventually returning for a second stint as Scotland's national team manager.
