Alexander Borodai, born on July twenty-fifth, nineteen seventy-two, is a prominent Russian journalist, political adviser, political scientist, and politician. He is currently a member of the State Duma of the eighth convocation representing the United Russia party. His political career has been marked by significant events, particularly his role in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.
In May two thousand fourteen, following the declaration of independence from Ukraine, Borodai was appointed as the Prime Minister of the Donetsk People's Republic by the republic's Supreme Council. His leadership during this tumultuous period was pivotal, although it was short-lived. Just a few months later, on August seventh, he announced his resignation, paving the way for Alexander Zakharchenko to succeed him. However, Borodai remained influential, taking on the role of deputy prime minister under Zakharchenko's administration.
Before his involvement in the Donetsk People's Republic, Borodai served as a political adviser to Sergey Aksyonov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Crimea. His extensive experience in political advisory roles has shaped his approach to governance and policy-making.
In an interview with Novaya Gazeta, Borodai revealed his longstanding acquaintance with Igor Girkin, a figure known for his involvement in the conflict in Transnistria. This connection highlights Borodai's deep ties within the political landscape of the region.
