Alexander Schallenberg

Alexander Schallenberg, born on June twentieth, nineteen sixty-nine, is a prominent Austrian diplomat, jurist, and politician. He has made significant contributions to Austrian politics, particularly through his role as the minister of foreign affairs from two thousand nineteen until two thousand twenty-five, with a brief interlude as the chancellor of Austria.

Schallenberg's political journey began as a member of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), where he served in both the Bierlein government and the Second Kurz government. His ascent to the chancellorship came after Sebastian Kurz announced his resignation on October ninth, two thousand twenty-one. Schallenberg was sworn in as the Chancellor of Austria on October eleventh, two thousand twenty-one, but his tenure was short-lived, as he announced his resignation on December second, two thousand twenty-one, returning to his position as foreign minister.

In January two thousand twenty-five, following the resignation of Karl Nehammer, Schallenberg was appointed acting chancellor by President Alexander Van der Bellen. This marked another chapter in his political career, as he served in an acting capacity until March two thousand twenty-five.

A graduate of the College of Europe, Schallenberg has a rich background in diplomacy, having been a mentor to Kurz during his time as foreign minister.
