Alexandra Barré

Born on January twenty-nine, nineteen fifty-eight, Alexandra Barré is a distinguished sprint kayaker who represented Canada on the international stage. Originally hailing from Hungary, she made her mark in the sport during the mid-1980s to the early 2000s, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination.

Barré's most notable achievements came during the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles, where she earned two prestigious medals. She secured a silver medal in the K-2 500 m event and a bronze in the K-4 500 m event, solidifying her status as one of Canada's top athletes in the sport.

In addition to her own accomplishments, Barré's family has a rich history in competitive canoeing. Her husband, Denis, represented Canada in two Summer Olympics, achieving an impressive eighth place in the K-2 1000 m event at the Montreal Games in nineteen seventy-six. Their daughter, Mylanie, has also followed in their footsteps, competing in two Olympic Games and achieving her best finish of seventh in the K-2 500 m event at Athens in two thousand four.
