Alexei Kudrin

Alexei Kudrin, born on October twelfth, nineteen sixty, is a prominent Russian liberal politician and economist. He has held significant positions in the Russian government, including serving as the Minister of Finance from May twenty-eighth, two thousand to December twenty-sixth, two thousand eleven, making him the longest-serving finance minister in post-Soviet Russia. His tenure was marked by a commitment to fiscal prudence, tax reform, and the promotion of free market principles.

After graduating with degrees in finance and economics, Kudrin began his career in the administration of Saint Petersburg's liberal Mayor Anatoly Sobchak. In nineteen ninety-six, he transitioned to the Presidential Administration under Boris Yeltsin. His financial acumen was instrumental in reducing Russia's substantial foreign debt from the nineties, positioning the country with one of the lowest foreign debts among major economies.

During his time as Finance Minister, Kudrin oversaw the accumulation of revenue in the Stabilization Fund, which played a crucial role in helping Russia navigate the financial crisis of two thousand eight more effectively than many anticipated. His contributions to the field have been recognized with several accolades, including the prestigious 'Finance Minister of the Year 2010' award from Euromoney magazine.

Following his resignation in September two thousand eleven, Kudrin took on the role of dean at the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. Petersburg State University, a position he held until two thousand twenty-two. He has also been active in cultural initiatives, serving as co-chairman of the board of trustees of the Mariinsky Theatre and chairman of the board of trustees for the foundation of the European University at St. Petersburg.

As of December ninth, two thousand twenty-two, Kudrin has been a corporate development advisor at Yandex. His extensive experience in finance and governance has earned him the federal state civilian service rank of 1st class Active State Councillor of the Russian Federation.
