Alexey Ulyukaev

Alexey Ulyukaev, born on March 23, 1956, is a prominent Russian economist, politician, banker, and financier. He has achieved the rank of 1st class Active State Councillor of the Russian Federation, reflecting his significant contributions to the country's economic landscape.

From June 24, 2013, until November 15, 2016, Ulyukaev served as the Minister of Economic Development in Dmitry Medvedev's Cabinet. His tenure was marked by efforts to navigate the complexities of Russia's economic challenges during a pivotal time.

Prior to this role, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia from 2004 to 2013, where he played a crucial role in shaping monetary policy and financial regulation. Ulyukaev holds a Doctorate of Economic Sciences, underscoring his academic and professional expertise in economics.

However, his career has not been without controversy. Ulyukaev served part of an eight-year prison term in a penal colony on the outskirts of Tver for soliciting a large bribe, a significant event that has impacted his legacy.
