Alfonso V of Aragon

Alfonso V of Aragon, born on February twenty-fourth, nineteen ninety-six, was a prominent sovereign and statesperson who played a significant role in the political landscape of early Renaissance Europe. He ascended to the throne as King of Aragon and King of Sicily in fourteen sixteen, and later became King of Naples in fourteen forty-two, marking a pivotal moment in his reign.

His early years were marked by intense struggles for the throne of Naples, where he faced formidable opponents such as Louis III of Anjou and Joanna II of Naples. Despite his initial setbacks, including the loss of Naples in fourteen twenty-four, Alfonso's tenacity led to his eventual recapture of the city and his coronation as king in fourteen forty-two.

Alfonso's reign was characterized by his diplomatic acumen and strong alliances. He maintained good relations with his vassal, Stjepan Kosača, and his ally, Skanderbeg, providing crucial support in their battles in the Balkans. His diplomatic efforts extended beyond Europe, as he engaged in significant contacts with the Ethiopian Empire, showcasing his influence on a global scale.
