His most celebrated works include the operas Loreley, premiered in eighteen ninety, and La Wally, which debuted in eighteen ninety-two.

La Wally, crafted to a libretto by Luigi Illica, features Catalani's most famous aria, "Ebben? Ne andrò lontana." This poignant piece gained further acclaim when it was performed by American soprano Wilhelmenia Fernandez in Jean-Jacques Beineix's acclaimed film Diva, released in nineteen eighty-one.
