Alfrēds Rubiks

Alfrēds Rubiks, born on September twenty-four, nineteen thirty-five, is a prominent Latvian politician known for his significant role in the Communist Party of Latvia. His political career has been marked by his leadership within the party, where he played a crucial role during a transformative period in Latvian history.

From two thousand nine to two thousand fourteen, Rubiks served as a Member of the European Parliament representing Latvia. During his tenure, he was affiliated with the European United Left–Nordic Green Left group, contributing to various discussions and initiatives that shaped European policies.

Despite his political contributions, Rubiks faces restrictions under Latvian law due to his past association with the Communist Party following the country's independence in January nineteen ninety-one. This has rendered him ineligible to run for any electable office in Latvia.

Rubiks comes from a politically active family; his two sons, Artūrs Rubiks and Raimonds Rubiks, are also engaged in politics as members of the Saeima for the Harmony party, continuing the family's legacy in Latvian political life.
