Ali Hewson

Ali Hewson, born on March 23, 1961, is an influential Irish activist and businesswoman, best known for her marriage to Paul Hewson, famously known as Bono, the lead singer of the iconic rock band U2. The couple first crossed paths at the tender age of twelve while attending Mount Temple Comprehensive School, and they tied the knot in 1982. Together, they have raised four children and maintain residences in Ireland, France, and the United States.

Hewson's academic journey culminated in a degree in politics and sociology from University College Dublin in 1989. Her passion for social issues has driven her involvement in various causes, particularly anti-nuclear activism, which she embraced in the 1990s. She lent her voice to the documentary 'Black Wind, White Land,' which explored the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster, and has collaborated closely with activist Adi Roche. Since 1994, she has served as a patron for the Chernobyl Children's Project International, participating in numerous aid missions to the high-radiation exclusion zones of Belarus.

In addition to her activism, Hewson has made her mark in the business world as the co-founder of two ethical enterprises: the EDUN fashion line, launched in two thousand five, and Nude Skincare products, established in two thousand seven. While EDUN aimed to promote fair trade with Africa, it has faced challenges in achieving commercial viability. Both companies have attracted significant investments from the French conglomerate LVMH.

Hewson's commitment to social justice and environmental issues has not gone unnoticed, leading to speculation in tabloid media about her potential candidacy for political office, including the presidency of Ireland. However, these discussions have yet to materialize into any formal political pursuits.
