Ali Mohammed Ghedi, born on 2 October 1952, is a notable Somali politician who held the position of Prime Minister of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) from 2004 until 2007. His rise to prominence came as a surprise to many, as he was relatively unknown prior to his appointment in November 2004, which was largely influenced by the Ethiopian government.
Before entering the political arena, Ghedi had a background in academia and veterinary medicine, working in Addis Ababa. His tenure as Prime Minister was marked by significant challenges, including widespread perceptions of corruption and difficulties in fostering national reconciliation.
Despite his initial support, Ghedi's leadership faced increasing criticism, leading to his resignation in October 2007. He was succeeded by Nur Hassan Hussein, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing political landscape of Somalia.
