Ali Muhammad Mujawar

Ali Muhammad Mujawar, born on April twenty-six, nineteen fifty-three, is a prominent Yemeni economist, politician, and diplomat. He has been serving as Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva since December two thousand twelve. His extensive career includes notable positions such as the seventh Prime Minister of Yemen from two thousand seven to two thousand eleven, as well as Minister of Electricity and Minister of Fish Resources.

Mujawar's academic journey took him to Algeria and France, where he honed his skills as an economist. He later took on various leadership roles at the University of Aden, showcasing his commitment to education and economic development. His appointment as Minister of Electricity in February two thousand six marked a significant moment in his career, as he gained recognition for his strong stance against corruption.

In April two thousand seven, President Ali Abdullah Saleh appointed Mujawar as Prime Minister, aiming to revitalize Yemen's economy and tackle corruption. However, following the anti-government uprising in Yemen, Mujawar was dismissed along with his cabinet on March twentieth, two thousand eleven, yet he was asked to remain until a new government was established. Throughout the revolution, Mujawar remained loyal to Saleh and was viewed as a potential successor to Vice President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.

In June two thousand eleven, Mujawar was injured in a mosque bombing alongside Saleh and received treatment in Saudi Arabia. After returning in August, he continued to serve until December tenth, when he stepped down as Prime Minister in accordance with a Gulf Cooperation Council agreement. Despite his disinterest in local politics, Mujawar was appointed by Hadi to lead Yemen's mission to the UN in Geneva, marking a new chapter in his diplomatic career.
