Ali Shamkhani, born on September twenty-ninth, nineteen fifty-five, was a prominent Iranian military officer and politician. He held the esteemed position of secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran from two thousand thirteen until two thousand twenty-three. His military career was marked by significant leadership roles, including commander of both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy and the Iranian Navy.
In addition to his military service, Shamkhani was a member of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran and served as a political advisor to the supreme leader of Iran starting in two thousand twenty-three. He played a crucial role in the Iran–United States negotiations aimed at achieving a nuclear peace agreement, showcasing his influence in both military and diplomatic arenas.
Tragically, in June two thousand twenty-five, Shamkhani was severely injured in an Israeli airstrike during the Twelve-Day War. Initial reports erroneously declared him dead, but he made a public reappearance. However, his life was cut short when he was killed eight months later in February two thousand twenty-six during the 2026 Iran war.
