Alice Herz-Sommer

Alice Herz-Sommer, born on November twenty-sixth, nineteen oh three, was a remarkable Czech-born Israeli classical pianist and music educator. Her life was a testament to resilience and artistry, as she not only excelled in her profession but also survived the harrowing experience of the Theresienstadt concentration camp during World War II.

After the war, Alice dedicated herself to music education, sharing her passion and knowledge with countless students. She lived in Israel for four decades, where she continued to inspire others through her teaching and performances. In nineteen eighty-six, she made the significant decision to emigrate to London, where she would spend the remainder of her life.

Her longevity was extraordinary; Alice Herz-Sommer lived to be one hundred and ten years old, becoming the world's oldest known Holocaust survivor until Yisrael Kristal was recognized as such. Her story is not just one of survival but also of the enduring power of music and the human spirit.
