Aliou Cissé

Aliou Cissé, born on March twenty-four, nineteen seventy-six, is a prominent figure in Senegalese football, both as a former player and a coach. He is currently the head coach of the Angola national team, having previously made a significant impact as the head coach of the Senegal national team from two thousand fifteen to two thousand twenty-four. Cissé's journey in football began in France, where he honed his skills before moving to England, where he played for clubs such as Birmingham City and Portsmouth.

As a player, Cissé was known for his versatility on the field, primarily serving as a defensive midfielder but also taking on the role of centre-back when needed. His leadership qualities shone through when he captained the Senegal team to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in two thousand two, a historic achievement for the nation.

Transitioning into coaching, Cissé first took on a caretaker role for the Senegal national team in two thousand twelve after the dismissal of Amara Traoré. He later served as the assistant coach for the under-23 side from two thousand twelve to two thousand thirteen, before becoming the head coach from two thousand thirteen to two thousand fifteen. His most notable achievement came in two thousand twenty-two when he led Senegal to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations, making him the first Senegalese manager to win the tournament after reaching the final in two thousand nineteen.
