Alireza Arafi, born in nineteen fifty-nine, is a prominent Iranian Shia cleric and politician. He has been a significant figure in Iranian politics, serving as a member of the Guardian Council since two thousand nineteen and as a member of the Assembly of Experts since two thousand twenty-two.
Following the assassination of Ali Khamenei, Arafi played a crucial role on the Interim Leadership Council, working alongside notable leaders such as President Masoud Pezeshkian and Chief Justice Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i. This period was pivotal in shaping the future leadership of Iran, culminating in the election of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader.
In addition to his political endeavors, Arafi has been at the forefront of religious education in Iran. He has held the position of head of Iran's seminaries since two thousand sixteen and has served as the Friday Prayer Imam of Qom since two thousand fifteen. His influence extends to academia as well, having been the President of Al-Mustafa International University from two thousand eight to two thousand eighteen.
