Allison Forsyth

Allison Forsyth, born on October 14, 1978, in Nanaimo, British Columbia, is a distinguished former alpine skier who represented Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Her career, marked by remarkable achievements, came to a close after the 2007–08 season, primarily due to injuries sustained throughout her time in competitive skiing and her desire to start a family.

Forsyth's journey took a harrowing turn when she became a victim of sexual abuse by her coach, Bertrand Charest, who was later sentenced to twelve years in prison for his crimes against young skiers. Following an appeal, his sentence was reduced to fifty-seven months, and he has since been granted parole. In October 2023, Forsyth reached a settlement with Alpine Canada regarding her lawsuit, with the organization expressing deep regret for her experiences and the actions of her abuser.

In her pursuit to foster a safer environment in sports, Forsyth joined ITP Sport & Recreation Inc. in October 2021 as the Chief Operating Officer and Partner. Her vision was to combat maltreatment in sports, a mission that resonated with organizations like Canada Soccer, which enlisted her expertise in 2022 to enhance their SafeSport initiatives.

In November 2023, Forsyth took a significant step by founding her own organization, Generation Safe. This new venture is dedicated to educating individuals and simplifying the complexities surrounding Safe Sport, ensuring that athletes can pursue their passions in a secure and supportive environment.
