Ally McCoist

Ally McCoist, born on September twenty-fourth, nineteen sixty-two, is a celebrated Scottish former footballer who transitioned into a successful managerial and media career. He began his football journey at St Johnstone before making a move to Sunderland in nineteen eighty-one. However, it was at Rangers, where he signed in nineteen eighty-three, that McCoist truly made his mark, becoming the club's all-time leading goalscorer.

During his illustrious tenure with Rangers, McCoist achieved remarkable success, winning nine consecutive league championships from nineteen eighty-eight to nineteen ninety-seven. He is recognized as one of the top strikers in Scottish football history, netting a total of two hundred sixty goals for both Rangers and Kilmarnock throughout his playing career, which spanned from nineteen eighty-three to two thousand one.

In addition to his club achievements, McCoist earned sixty-one international caps for Scotland and was inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame in two thousand seven. His contributions to the sport have also been acknowledged with his membership in the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.

After retiring from professional play, McCoist ventured into media, serving as a team captain on the BBC sports quiz show A Question of Sport from nineteen ninety-six to two thousand seven. He later took on coaching roles, becoming assistant manager at Rangers in two thousand seven and eventually stepping up as manager in two thousand eleven. Despite facing significant challenges, including the club's financial difficulties and subsequent liquidation in two thousand twelve, McCoist played a pivotal role in guiding Rangers back to the second tier of Scottish football.

In December two thousand fourteen, after a challenging start to the season, McCoist submitted his notice and was placed on gardening leave. By September two thousand fifteen, he and Rangers mutually agreed to terminate his contract, marking the end of a significant chapter in his football career.
