Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Amanda Stepto

Amanda Stepto, born on July thirty-first, nineteen seventy, is a retired Canadian actress best known for her role as Christine "Spike" Nelson in the Degrassi teen drama franchise. With no prior acting experience, she gained significant recognition for her portrayal of Spike on CBC's Degrassi Junior High from nineteen eighty-seven to nineteen eighty-nine, and its sequel, Degrassi High, from nineteen eighty-nine to nineteen ninety-one.

Stepto's character was at the center of a controversial teenage pregnancy storyline, which, along with her punk hairstyle, garnered her considerable media attention in Canada. The episode titled "It's Late" played a pivotal role in the show's reception, leading to its truncation and eventual removal from the BBC's lineup. In nineteen eighty-nine, she was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Ontario, joining her fellow cast members in this honorable role.

In the early nineteen nineties, Stepto became a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, supported by the organization during a contentious tour of high schools in Alberta in nineteen ninety-three. Despite her early success, she stepped away from acting in the nineteen nineties due to typecasting and a waning interest in the profession.

However, Amanda made a notable return to her iconic role as Spike in the first seven seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation from two thousand one to two thousand eight. This series remains her only significant acting endeavor, and as of two thousand eighteen, she has retired from acting altogether. Throughout her career, she received acclaim for her performances, earning nominations for a Young Artist Award and a Gemini Award.
