Amarilis Savón

Amarilis Savón, born on May thirteenth, nineteen seventy-four, is a distinguished Cuban judoka renowned for her remarkable achievements in the sport. Competing at four Olympic Games, she showcased her exceptional talent and determination, securing three Olympic bronze medals in the years nineteen ninety-two in Barcelona, nineteen ninety-six in Atlanta, and two thousand four in Athens.

Currently residing in Miami, Florida, Amarilis has transitioned from athlete to mentor, serving as a lead instructor and coach at Somerset Academy Charter. Her dedication to the sport extends beyond her personal accolades, as she actively shapes the next generation of judo athletes.

In two thousand thirteen, her coaching prowess was evident when she guided three athletes at the USA Judo Senior Nationals, where they collectively earned one gold and one silver medal.
