Amdy Faye

Amdy Faye, born on March 12, 1977, is a former professional footballer from Senegal, renowned for his versatility on the pitch. Primarily a defensive midfielder, he also showcased his skills as a centre back throughout his career.

Faye's football journey began with AS Monaco, a club based in Monaco, before he made his mark in France with ES Fréjus and Auxerre. His talent caught the attention of Premier League side Portsmouth, where he transferred in August 2003 for a fee of one million five hundred thousand pounds. During his time at Fratton Park, he became a key player, contributing significantly to the team's efforts.

In January 2005, Faye made a move to Newcastle United for a transfer fee of two million pounds, further solidifying his presence in English football. His career continued with stints at Charlton Athletic and the Scottish club Rangers, where he further honed his skills and experience.

In August 2008, he joined Stoke City, spending the 2008–09 season with the Potters. Faye concluded his professional playing career with a brief period at Leeds United. Notably, during his time in English football, his first name was occasionally misspelled as Amady due to an error in his passport.
