Anabel Medina Garrigues

Anabel Medina Garrigues, born on July thirty-first, nineteen eighty-two, is a distinguished Spanish tennis coach and former professional player. Renowned for her prowess on the court, she achieved a remarkable career-high ranking of world No. 16 in two thousand nine. Throughout her playing career, she secured eleven singles and twenty-eight doubles titles, with notable victories including the French Open in two thousand eight and two thousand nine alongside partner Virginia Ruano Pascual.

Medina Garrigues was particularly recognized as a clay-court specialist, employing a grinding style to dominate her rallies. However, she diverged from many of her Spanish peers by favoring hardcourts for her matches. Her impressive list of singles titles includes victories at the WTA Tour tournament in Strasbourg, where she triumphed over Katarina Srebotnik in the final in May two thousand eight, successfully defending her title from the previous year against Amélie Mauresmo.
